For the side scrolling game Usagi Yojimbo: Way of the Ronin, Happy Giant Media needed a way to emulate Stan Sakai's iconic cartooning style while avoiding in-engine toon shading that would have been prohibitively expensive for phones and tablets. Raf Anzovin from Anzovin Studio will demonstrate how using a 2.5-d approach allowed them to rig drawn artwork in Maya for fluid animation.
